BITUMEN EMULSION COLD-MIXTURES: A FEASIBLE PAVEMENT CONSTRUCTION MATERIAL IN TANZANIA
Most flexible pavements in Tanzania are constructed of bituminous hot-mixes, while a lesser number consist of cold-mixes. Conventional hot-mixes are generally known to be stronger and more durable than other types of mixes; however, they are associated with some economic disadvantages, environmental hazards, and safety problems. This research investigated the extent to which bituminous cold-mixes (BEMIX) can be used in pavement construction in Tanzania, with the aim of overcoming some of the disadvantages associated with hot-mixes.
