FAST-TRACK PRODUCTS REVIEW: PREFORMED THERMOPLASTIC LEGENDS FOR FLEXIBLE PAVEMENTS
Field research performance testing of preformed thermoplastic pavement legends at various locations statewide showed benefit to the maintenance paint crews. Evaluation forms were collected from paint crews and their experiences are reported a favorable to this type of product. Research site visits to evaluate durability, retroreflectivity, and color retention showed "good" to "excellent' performance on asphaltic pavements and "poor" performance on concrete pavements. Stimsonite brand "HotTape" and Flint Trading brand "PreMark 20/20 Flex" are the recommended products for implementation. A value engineering estimate was calculated with life-cycle costs used to justify the use of these products, as they have expensive capital outlay. Research findings and recommendations are included in the body of the text as well as technical data sheets, price lists, and specifications for the two "approved" products.
