TIME DEPENDENT STRESS VARIATION OF A COMPOSITE TWO-I-GIRDER BRIDGE - CHIDORINOSAWAGAWA BRIDGE

This paper presents an outline and innovative web stiffening design of Chidorinosawagawa Bridge, which is a four span continuous composite two-I-girder bridge, constructed on a highway route in Hokkaido, Japan. In this bridge project, jack-up and down procedures were employed at intermediate supports during erection in order to avoid cracking in the concrete slab under dead load and, as a result, to attain higher durability of the bridge. Field measurement was carried out to confirm whether the expected prestress in the concrete slab is introduced or not. It was confirmed that the expected prestress was introduced, and that both measured and calculated values show good agreement. For the covering abstract see ITRD E106406.
