CRASH WORTHINESS OF BRIDGE RAILS
This paper addresses the issues of bridge rail design and crashworthiness. It gives a brief description of research work conducted relative to bridge rail and transition design. It briefly discusses the recent AASHTO guide specifications for bridge railings. It makes reference to standard steel and aluminum open bridge railings developed for a consortium of the transportation departments in the New England states.
