GALILEO FREQUENCY & SIGNAL DESIGN
This article describes the Galileo frequency structure and signal design that has been developed by the European Commission's Galileo Signal Task Force (STF). The article presents the most current proposal for the frequency and signal structure. The relevant requirements for the system are first discussed. This is followed by a description of the mapping of Galileo services to signals. Noise and multipath considerations of the relevant frequency bands are then discussed. The article presents the results from interference analyses in addition to the matter of interoperability and compatibility with GPS, focusing on signal structure and geodetic and time reference frame.
