A DATABASE SERVICE OF GUIDELINES AND CHECKLISTS FOR THE DESIGN OF TRANSPORT TELEMATICS AND INFORMATION SYSTEMS WITH EMPHASIS ON ELDERLY AND DISABLED DRIVERS AND TRAVELERS

This paper describes the conceptualization, development and implementation of a database service of design guidelines for usability of technical systems by elderly and disabled (E&D) drivers and travelers, that is available in an early stage of the development process for potential users. This database will be developed within a European project which is financed by the European Commission. This project aims to ensure that the needs of E&D drivers and travelers are taken fully into account in the development and application of advanced telematics and information systems. This database service and its adaptation to the requirements of different user groups are presented in this paper.
