TRANSPORTATION CONDITIONS: A TOP CONCERN OF THE PUBLIC

Data and information on the importance of mobility, capacity, and, by extension, transportation investment are of greater interest to the public than ever before. This is particularly true in the major metropolitan areas and urbanized states. This conference presentation briefly addresses the following questions: What are some of the pertinent arguments that the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) made to Congress leading up to enactment of the Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century (TEA-21)? What are some of the data needs that have been generated in Maryland? What are some of the positives and negatives related to the availability of relevant data?
