PDAS STREAMLINE CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENT TASKS ON FRANK SINATRA DRIVE
This article discusses the use of handheld personal digital assistants (PDAs) on construction sites to allow field inspectors to record daily report information such as weather conditions, logs of materials and quantities, logs of equipment and labor used, and logs of activities and discussions with contractors. The PDA approach comes as a solution to the limitations presented by traditional paper records, and allows searching into project archives, quick summarization, and managerial reports. The article also discusses various options in terms of PDA platforms, and suggests further possibilities for PDA applications on projects.
