INTERMODAL CITIZENS' NETWORK. IN: INTEGRATED REVENUE AND TICKETING SYSTEMS FOR RAIL AND ROAD PASSENGER TRANSPORT 1996
For the first time ever in its history, the European Commission has adopted a Green Paper, entitled "The Citizens' Network", that addresses public transit, particularly in built-up areas. In the Green Paper, the Commission is declaring its awareness that the mobility that has been created without proper consideration, for example, of environmental policy, is having negative effects on towns, the environment and people. The solution recommended in the Green Paper clearly involves valorizing public transit, particularly in built-up areas, while it expressly rejects any increase in road infrastructure.
