THE USE OF RECLAIMED AGGREGATE MATERIALS IN ROAD CONSTRUCTION. OPTIONS FOR GOVERNMENT POLICY

A research project on the use of reclaimed materials in road construction and maintenance has been carried out on behalf of the UK Department of the Environment (DoE). The broad aim of the project is to make recommendations to Government aimed at increasing the contribution of reclaimed materials to the overall requirement for aggregates. The work comprised: (i) a survey of current and recent use of reclaimed aggregate materials in road construction and maintenance, (ii) the identification of factors enabling and constraining the use of these materials and (iii) the identification of options for future Government policy. This paper presents a draft of the results and conclusions of the work by the authors. These results and conclusions do not necessarily represent the views of the Department of the Environment who commissioned the study. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 898792.
