UPLIFT BEHAVIOUR OF A CONE-SHAPE ANCHOR IN SAND
To evaluate the field performance of a cone-shape anchor in sandy soil, a full scale anchor pull out test programme was carried out on five anchors with the fixed lengths ranging from 6 to 10 m. The nominal diameter of anchorage body is 12 cm on the top and 60 cm at the bottom. Test results indicate that the ultimate anchorage capacity of the cone-shape anchor is about 2 to 3 times higher than that of shaft anchor (12 cm in diameter) with the same fixed length. To simulate the anchorage behaviour of cone-shape anchor, a numerical model was established. In addition, the stress change of soil around anchorage body and the influence of anchor length and bottom diameter on anchorage capacity are evaluated with the numerical model as well.
