COST EFFECTIVENESS OF TRANSYT--COMPUTED SIGNAL SETTINGS

This description of Montgomery, Alabama's experience with TRANSYT seeks to aid other cities decide 1) whether TRANSYT may be a cost-effective tool as compared to manual analyses or the do-nothing alternative, and 2) whether TRANSYT procedures may be carried out by a city's own forces. The emphasis is on administrative concerns of input workload requirements and computer costs. Available indications of the effectiveness of the TRANSYT timing in reducing delay are also presented.
