REWRITING THE MANUAL OF UNIFORM TRAFFIC CONTROL DEVICES FOR THE YEAR 2001

The Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for Canada has been completely rewritten and updated. The National Committee on Uniform Traffic Control has undertaken this project under the auspices of the Transportation Association of Canada (TAC). When published in 1997, it is the first update since the 1976 metric edition. It will mark the first time that bith English and French language editions have been published, and the first time the manual will be available in a fully electronic version, accessible via the Internet. This will facilitate future updates and ensure that all agencies have ready access to the most current version of the manual. This approach will also directly link the manual graphics with the Sign Pattern Manual, thereby ensuring accurate and consistent sign designs and typical layouts.
