PUBLIC SPACES - PUBLIC LIFE
This book is a study of Copenhagen in Denmark from the first pedestrianisation scheme in Stroeget in 1962 to the current time. The study "Public spaces and public life, Copenhagen 1996" was carried out by the Department of Urban Design, School of Architecture, Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts. The study and the book is in four parts: (1) Public spaces - a report on how streets and squares in the city center have developed 1962-1996; (2) Public life - results of surveys showing how the city centre is used; (3) Interviews - the results of street interviews and questionnaires carried out in cooperation with University of Melbourne; (4) Public spaces - public life - a summary of the studies.
