NAVIGATION AND TRACKING SYSTEMS. [PART I]

This article gives an overview of the different tracking and navigation systems currently available. The three principal components of navigation and tracking systems are identified as positioning technologies, communications technologies, and map databases. The systems are categorized into the following classes: autonomous, advisory, fleet management, inventory, and portable.
