NEAR-SOURCE EFFECTS AND THE ISOLATION PROVISIONS OF THE 1997 UNIFORM BUILDING CODE (UBC)
Demands placed on base-isolated buildings by near-source ground motions are evaluated through time-history analyses of 6-story buildings designed according to the 1997 Uniform Building code. Results are presented for actual ground motion recordings containing near-source effects as well as for a suite of simple pulse motions.
