FATIGUE, TRUCK DRIVING AND ACCIDENT RISK
This paper examines the evidence that fatigue is associated with accident risk. This is followed by a discussion of the individual factors which contribute to fatigue, namely hours of work, time of day effects, inadequate sleep and monotonous driving conditions. The paper concludes with a discussion of the effectiveness of various countermeasures: rest and food breaks, caffeine, and naps.
