CURRENT SITUATION AND PROSPECTS FOR FERRY LINES BETWEEN KOREA, CHINA AND FAR EAST RUSSIA

This paper describes the operators, fleets and market structure of the ferry services between Korea, China and Far East Russia, addresses the potential prospects for the ferry lines in the region and investigates the possibilities of co-operation with western operators in the ferry business. Ferries to and from Japan are excluded from the scope of the paper. The research was mainly based on field surveys and interviews carried out the authors in Korea, Russia, China, and Japan from 1991 to March 1995.
