A RADIO BEACON RECEIVER FOR VEHICLE INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION SYSTEM

Automobile traffic information and communication systems have been studied and developed in many countries for safe and smooth road travel. A radio beacon system as part of vehicle information and communication system (VICS) has been developed in Japan. The purpose of this work is to develop a receiver for the radio beacon system. For the vehicle receiver, one of the most important aspects is that signals be demodulated correctly. To realize such a receiver, two techniques for the demodulator have been developed. One technique is to use an amplifier to control feedback gain quickly. The other technique is to use a logarithmic amplifier. The receiver for the radio beacon system performed well under fading by using demodulation techniques.
