EPICYCLIC GEAR UNIT
Sumitomo Metal Industries Ltd. has longstanding experience in the design and production of gears, and in the past 55 years, has produced a vast range of gears and gear units for rolling stock, shipbuilding and other industrial machinery, gaining worldwide renown. The company developed an epicyclic gear unit of 1650 kw capacity at 1480/10800 rpm, fully based on self-developed techniques, and conducted a series of high-speed load tests in November 1972, obtaining excellent results, this report gives an outline of the construction, describes the features of the unit, and presents the summary of experimental results.
