INDIANA STREAMLINES PERMITTING AND ICE/SNOW REMOVAL
The Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), building upon an integrated computer-aided design/geographic information system (CAD/GIS) implemented in 1989, is in the midst of a pivotal application. Its objective is to redesign snow and ice control maintenance vehicle routes. The redesign is expected to reduce winter maintenance costs by $8 to $10 million per year.
