EXPERIMENTAL STUDY ON THE BEHAVIOUR OF DRAGGING ANCHOR OF AC- 14 TYPE ANCHOR

Model experiments investigating the characteristics of the behaviour of an anchor when it is dragged along the sea bed were carried out on an AC-14 type anchor in a sandy sea bed. Newly developed apparatus was used to measure the movement of the anchor such as the position, the penetration depth and the rotating angle while it is dragged in the sea bed. The anchor begins to sink in the sea bed just after starting to drag and reaches the maximum penetration depth within the dragging distance of about five times the anchor length and the maximum penetrating depth is about half the anchor length.
