STRUCTURAL OPTIMAL DESIGN WITH CONSIDERATION OF NORMAL MAINTENANCE AND FAILURE COST DURING ITS SERVICE LIFE

In this paper, a global structural cost model is established which considers structural construction cost, normal maintenance cost and failure cost in its service life. Based on this global cost model, the structural optimal design is discussed. Then an approach for the determination of structural failure probability is proposed and a new concept of structural optimal design with consideration of the structural normal maintenance strategy during the structural service life is also presented.
