APPROACH TO ACCURATE PRODUCTION OF HULL STRUCTURES; 2ND REPORT - ACTUAL RESULT AND EVALUATION OF ACCURACY

The panel-slit process developed by IHI, consisting of cutting, welding, and positioning equipment, has improved the fabrication accuracy. The new equipment was installed at the IHI Aichi Shipyard. The accuracy of panels and transverse members fabricated by the new equipment was evaluated, and the effect of the equipment was also reviewed to provide accuracy standards. The new process was confirmed to be effective. However, slight adjustments were necessary form some members when assembled. See also abstract no 93020272.
