DEVELOPMENT OF HIGH-PRODUCTIVE SYSTEM IN OPPAMA SHIPYARD
There is an increasing demand for VLCCs in Japan. A shortage of labour and an ageing society has led one shipyard to develop and install various automatic labour-saving facilities to improve productivity. This paper describes the facilities and proposes a new production system for future operation without skilled workers.
