THE HYDRODYNAMIC LIFT EFFECT ON THE STABILITY AND ON THE BANKING ANGLE OF THE FAST CRAFTS
An original approach is developed for the expression of the righting moment and the initial stability coefficient of deep-vee deadrise craft in planing conditions at high speed, and the results related to those calculated using the classic method. It is then shown that a correct position of the hydrodynamic lift axis, during the turn at full planing speed permits the covering of the turning path with out the drifting angle, and therefore in the optimum hydrodynamic conditions. Finally it is shown how this position may be found by means of a series of full scale tests.
