DESIGN TECHNIQUES USED TO OPTIMISE THE COMBAT SYSTEM EFFECTIVENESS OF THE T23 FRIGATE

This paper reviews the T23 Frigate design process and some of the design techniques utilised at the Combat Systems Engineering Centre (COMSEC) at Yarrow Shipbuilders Ltd, UK. The paper is historical in perspective, but endeavours to critically appraise the T23 experience in order to clarify the way forward for a future design.
