SAFETY ASSESSMENT OF HIGH SPEED VESSEL TRAFFICS USING COMPUTER SIMULATION

Marine traffic has grown, as has the need for high speed marine transportation. In this paper, the computer simulation of high speed marine traffic is discussed and the procedure of the safety assessment using the simulation results is proposed. A simulation system for evaluation of an intelligent ship has been constructed at the Ship Research Institute of Japan. The system is modified to evaluate the high speed vessel traffic. An example of the safety evaluation is shown with simulation results.
