MINIMISING NOISE AND VIBRATION ON OCEAN RESEARCH VESSEL HAKUMO MARU

Recently, the importance of world scale ocean research has been recognised and various sophisticated research equipment features modern research vessels. In order to minimise the level of ship's vibration and noise and acoustic noise in the water, R.V. HAKUMO MARU was designed and built applying the technology of double resilient mounting for its main diesel engines, and a newly developed hull form involving bubble locus, highly skewed propeller and side thruster impellers etc.
