THE DESIGN OF A MODERN MAGNETIC TREATMENT FACILITY
Continuing importance of the magnetic influence threat has forced an appraisal of magnetic treatment techniques, particularly for submarines with emphasis on high treatment performance with minimum loss of operational time. The Naval Systems Division of Thorn EMI Electronics Ltd. has recently been involved in the conceptual design of an offshore treatment facility which employs novel magnetic instrumentation techniques to assess magnetic signature changes. A brief overview will be given of the functionality, treatment technology, physical construction, instrumentation and software required by such a facility.
