ATMOSPHERIC POLLUTION FROM VEHICLE EMISSION: MEASUREMENTS AT FOUR SITES IN COVENTRY, 1973

Continuous measurements of the atmospheric concentrations of carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, oxides of nitrogen and particulate lead were made at four sites in Coventry during November and December 1973. The pollution at these sites was shown to arise mainly from the traffic, and was at levels comparable with those reported elsewhere. The effects of some meteorological parameters on the pollution levels were investigated, and a simple, mathematical model relating pollution levels to wind speed and traffic flow was developed.
