EXPERIENCE WITH ELECTRICITY SUPPLIES ON DIESEL DRIVEN MERCHANT SHIPS WITH TURBOGENERATORS AND AUXILIARY DIESELS
A German Shipowner had a series of containerships built in 1982 with steam driven turbogenerators. The steam was obtained by heat recovery from the main engine, a two stroke diesel. Since 1986 the system has been re-examined in order to evaluate how economical the system really is. The test methodology and results are described in the article.
