FRP LINE PIPE FOR OIL AND GAS PRODUCTION
Fiberglass-reinforced plastic (FRP) can be the answer to our need for low-cost corrosion-resistant line-pipe materials due to the increasing corrosiveness of produced fluids from existing fields and newly developed aggressive reservoirs. The experience of Exxon Co. USA and Esso Resources Canada Ltd. with FRP line pipe has been good in mild- to moderate-service environments by derating manufacturers' claimed performance; however, failures have been encountered mostly due to mechanical damage and product inconsistencies.
