STUDY GUIDE FOR FEDERAL COMMUNICATIONS COMMISSION RADIO TELEPHONE THIRD CLASS OPERATOR PERMIT

The primary purpose of this book is to prepare the reader to successfully complete the examination for the Federal Communications Commission third class radiotelephone operator license. It is the intent to provide such necessary related information that the licensee will have a broad understanding of shipboard radios so that he will be able to properly and effectively use the radiotelephone in his occupation. The information in the opening chapters is intended to give an explanation of the various licenses, when and where they are needed, and in general what to expect on the exam. The three chapters on AM, FM and other radio systems are intended to give a nontechnical, easy-to-understand explanation of these systems of broadcast and their applications. Chapter Six contains excerpts from various rules and regulations which should be studied and kept for future reference. Both chapters six and seven consist of numerous questions and answers covering the reading material. These questions and answers should be used as study material and to reinforce the learning process. Finally, there is a sample exam patterned after the test which is given nationwide by the FCC.
