NUMERICAL CALCULATION OF FORCES AND MOMENTS DUE TO FLUID MOTIONS IN TANKS AND DAMAGED COMPARTMENTS

A Mathematical model is described for calculation of the dynamic forces exerted on a ship by liquid motion in tanks, in flooded compartments and also on the deck if it happens to become totally or partially awash. Using Glimm's method, simulations are performed for both the low- and deep-fill depth cases. The results are compared with experimental data and analytical solutions.
