ON THE MOTION CHARACTERISTICS OF AN OIL BOOM IN WAVES
In the event of oil spillage booms are normally used to contain the spill; these are, however, not always effective in actual service. In this paper the motion characteristics of a floating oil boom are discussed. A method of modelling using simplified cylinder and plate forms is considered, and the results are compared with experimental values. A comparison is also made between results calculated using the Milgram method and using the source method.
