INTERNATIONAL HARMONIZATION OF MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY REGULATIONS
This paper describes recent activities leading to the worldwide harmonization of motor vehicle safety standards, namely in lighting, side impact and brakes. Progress that has been made since the early 1980's is presented. Special attention is given to US, Japanese and European legislation. The authors discuss some of the hindrances to the harmonization process and suggest changes which should improve harmonization. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 869205.
