AN ANALYSIS OF DYNAMIC CAR POOLING POTENTIAL
Dynamic car pooling is analysed for an extensive urban region in the city of Sydney using household travel survey data. The model includes a road network component based on the major roads and arterials. The simulation model used (LITRES) is a multipurpose passenger transport simulation. The viability of a car pool system is reported with respect to the level of participation and the trip deviation which a driver is prepared to undergo in order to provide a ride. Results indicate that a fairly high rate of participation and deviation acceptability is required for a system to reach technical viability. (A) For the covering abstract see IRRD 868006.
