LOW-VIBRATION DESIGNS

The ever increasing power of modern propulsion plants and material-saving shipbuilding techniques are said to be the cause of increasing vibration and noise onboard ships. Therefore shipyards are making more and more use of insulation materials which leads to increasing costs and weight. This paper discusses some alternative preventive measures without these disadvantages. <CMO>.
