DEEPSEA MINING: 20 YEARS' TECHNOLOGICAL EVOLUTION, PROBLEMS AND CHALLENGES

Technology for the exploitation of deepsea polymetallic nodules is considered, including problems associated with deepsea mining development. The principles of design and operation are briefly outlined and the opportunities are indicated.
