SCOOT: THE WORLD'S FOREMOST ADAPTIVE TRAFFIC CONTROL SYSTEM
SCOOT - Split Cycle time and Offset Optimization Technique - is the world's leading demand-responsive urban traffic control system. Already established in 14 countries it continues to advance in both the number of systems installed and the facilities and benefits which are provided. This paper summarizes the background to SCOOT, outlines the principles of operation and gives some sample applications. A glimpse of the future developments is also given.
