SENIOR DRIVER SAFETY AND MOBILITY: VEHICLE DESIGN AND DRIVER LICENSING ISSUES

This project addressed senior driver safety and mobility by studying vehicle design issues that preferentially affect senior drivers, identifying means to make vehicles more compatible with abilities and limitations of senior drivers, and motivating automobile manufacturers to produce such vehicles; by studying the issues of driver training and licensing and identifying training and licensing measures to encourage senior drivers to drive more safely while permitting them to retain their drivers' licences longer; and by identifying the information the senior car buyer needs to make the best possible choice of car.
