DATA MODELS FOR TRANSPORT PLANNING. A DIRECTORY

This TFK report presents a directory of data models for transport planning. The directory is a part of the TFK project "Computer Aid for Strategical Transport Planning", called STRADA. The aim has primarily been to find systems for strategic planning and transport management (e.g. route planning). This was done to estimate the market and to investigate the existence of systems which correspond to STRADA specifications. The report includes a check list of factors which are to be taken into consideration when implementing a computer based system for transport planning. Methods for selecting a system are shortly described. A great part of the report consists of a list of investigated systems. For each system is provided: Field of application, system specification, a brief description and address to supplier. The check list is supplemented with a matrix of investigated systems vis-a-vis applicable funtions of transport planning. The matrix makes it easier to find systems for specific transport problems. The report can be used as a reference when providing transport planning systems or for information about possibilites in computerization of similar function.
