APPLICATION OF ON-LINE ACCELERATED COOLING FOR STEEL SHAPES

The development by Japan's NKK Corporation of low carbon equivalent type steel shapes is described. The shapes have good toughness and high strength, in accordance with the demands of the shipbuilding industry. The technique used to produce the shapes is called NCT- Type B process (NKK Controlled Rolling Process for Steel Shapes with Good Toughness-Type B), and it employs on-line accelerated cooling.
