NOISE AND PRESSURE IMPULSES FROM CAVITATING PROPELLERS: A COMPARATIVE STUDY ON TWO SHIPS IN FULL-SCALE AND MODEL SCALE

Propeller-induced noise and pressure impulses were measured on two sister ships with different propellers, one with a high and one with a low cavitation level, and the results are discussed. The noise and pressure measurements were carried out in full-scale as well as in model scale. Correlation of the results led to a confirmation of the scaling law and a recommendation for the use of the model scale in future cavitation tests.
