CATHODIC PROTECTION: A COMPARISON OF RESULTS OF LONG- AND SHORT-TERM TESTING OF ALUMINIUM SACRIFICIAL ANODES
The authors point out that there can be serious discrepancies between measurements of the efficiency of aluminium galvanic (sacrificial) anodes when the results of long- and short-term testing procedures are compared. In some cases, the correlation between the results obtained by these methods can be very poor. The findings cast serious doubts on the value of the short-term test carried out to the specification of Australian Standard AS 2239-1979 for estimating the efficiency of these anodes.
