SOFTWARE COMES OF AGE
The author looks at the current status of software for the shipping industry and examines some of the products now available. An illustration charts one of the most elaborate examples of maritime information, an integrated system planned by Canadian Pacific Ships--one in which vessels are linked via satcoms to a central computer in a corporate-wide system.
