SAFETY AND MODERN DESIGN MELD WITH DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION
With newspapers headlining stories every day of passengers being assaulted on transit platforms, visibility and safety became a critical element in the consideration of the design of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority's new West 25th Street Rapid Station. The outcome of this design effort was a combined structural steel and aluminum curtain wall system that offers almost total visibility of the surroundings to the passengers as well as observation capability for security forces from the attendant's booth and the adjacent street.
