CENTRAL CITY PARKING POLICY: A MODELLING APPROACH. ADELAIDE CITY; 2ND AUSTRALIAN PARKING CONVENTION, SEPTEMBER 30 - OCTOBER 4, 1990, ADELAIDE FESTIVAL CENTRE, SOUTH AUSTRALIA; PROVIDING PARKING FOR THE PEOPLE
Urban planning is again concentrating on the Central City. Tools are required to analyse, at a network level, the implications of transport management options for the major travel modes and types and to assess transport-related impacts of alternative development scenarios for the Central City. The development of the "CENtral CIty Movement Model" (CENCIMM) package is a timely and logical research project aimed at providing a detailed planning and system-design tool for use in evaluating the needs for and operation of urban parking systems. The CENCIMM development has focussed on modelling traffic within the Perth CBD, and the support of the Western Australian Department of Transport (WADoT) has been instrumental in the conduct of the research. The CENCIMM software package comprises a suite of models to aid in the investigation of central city parking areas. It is a practical tool that can be used to plan road networks and evaluate parking, traffic management and public transport policies in the CBD. This paper provides an introduction to CENCIMM and its application in Perth, including the linkages with other models. (TRRL)
