FINAL REPORT OF THE DEFINITION PHASE SUBPROJECT PRO-ART OF THE PROMETHEUS PROJECT

ABSCHLUSSBERICHT DEFINITIONSPHASE TEILPROJEKT PRO-ART DES PROMETHEUS-PROJEKTES

Within the EUREKA-project PROMETHEUS, a concept for the improvement of safety and efficiency of European street traffic is being worked out. This comprises research into the scientific and technical problems which have to be solved for this purpose. It is the task of the sub-project PRO-ART (PRometheus ARTificial Intelligence) to provide the basics for integrated interpretation of multosensorial input, for planning as well as for execution andd monitoring of actions of mobile systems. This implies investigations of the human-machine interface between the driver and a driver support system. It has been one of the goals of the reported definition phase to provide a state-of-the-art overview about all topics relevant in the PRO-ART area for PROMETHEUS. This final report concentrates on preliminary investigations which have been undertaken in order to clarify certain questions, and on the coordination activities in order to establish the comprehensive workplan submitted.
